Beginner String Classes Grades K - 4

Merit's String Program presents students with the option to pursue their music education through one of two methods.

Both methods are designed to develop instrumental technique, musical knowledge and musical skills.

The traditional method of string instruction incorporates Merit's sequential-based curriculum focused on instrumental technique, musical knowledge, musical skills and musical etiquette. Parent attendance is strongly encouraged for all students through the first three years of study, especially for students ages 5 - 8.

The Alegre Strings Program incorporates Merit's sequential-based curriculum and the Suzuki repertoire and methodology along with traditional Latin folk music. The cornerstone of the Suzuki method is that children can learn music in much the same way they learn to speak their native language-through listening, imitation and repetition. Parent participation is an integral part of the Suzuki method, so parent attendance is required for the first three years of study.
